Motorola Mobile continues to build up its ranks of Android smartphones, and the newest recruit is one XT531, a lower-cost model that runs Android 2.3 (Gingerbread), makes use of the Moto Switch interface, and allows for up to 8 hours talk time and up to 28 days of standby in 3G mode.
Motorola’s new phone measures 114 x 62 x 11.95 mm, and has dual-band HSDPA/quad-band EDGE support, a 3.5-inch (480 x 320) capacitive touchscreen, an 800 MHz processor, 512MB of memory, a microSD slot, a 5 megapixel rear-facing camera with flash, a front VGA camera, aGPS, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, an accelerometer, an e-compass, an ambient light sensor, a proximity sensor, FM radio, a 3.5mm audio jack, and a 1540mAh battery.
The XT531 is coming out in China later this month, and is expected to reach Hong Kong, Taiwan, and select markets in Europe and Latin America this fall. In Europe the smartphone will be known as Fire XT, while in Latin America it will be marketed as Spice XT.
