A few changes under the hood and Google Maps has received some new functionality in he form of a very useful weather layer. Enabled via the widget in the upper right corner of the screen, the weather layer offers live temperatures and conditions (complete with cure icons), and even cloud coverage.

The data supplied through the new layer comes from weather.com and the US Naval Research Lab. Detailed information on the weather in your area (including a four-day forecast) is available through a simple click on the icons placed above the world’s cities. You can choose the units of wind speed (Mph/KMph/Mps) and temperature (F/C), as well as enable/disable clouds from the left-hand panel.
