comScore is reporting that in the month of August Yahoo sites have managed to increase their share in the US search market to 18.5% (17.9% in July). In the same period Google grabbed a 64.4% piece of the pie (down from 64.8% a month before) while Microsoft secured a 13.3% share (13.4% in July).

The fourth and fifth places in the US were once again taken by Ask and AOL, the former having 2.6% of the market, whereas the latter had to settle for 1.2%.

All in all a total of 19.5 billion search queries were conducted in August in the US, up 1& sequentially.
